Historicial Development: Bruce Slover started his crate and box factory in 1946 at Rusk. His family ran the factory after 1959 until 1984. The company was located on thirty-five acres north of Rusk that Slover bought from I. H. Van Dorn. Slover used small, portable sawmills to gather sawtimber, and then later bought sawlogs. About twenty employees manufactured vegetable and fruit crates, particularly for tomatoes. By 1958, the mill was manufacturing veneer for Henderson Clay Products and was making bed frames. In 1984, M & H Crate Company of Dialville bought Slover Crate & Lumber Company and moved it.
