Historicial Development: Miles Brothers Lumber Company at Richards Station (Richards, Grimes County) operated a sawmill there in 1927. Sam Miles' sawmill at Anderson in 1934 was listed in the Lumbermen's Credit Rating Book, October 1934. The mill was probably at Richards and the offices at several miles to the west at Anderson. In 1927, Miles Brothers sold all of its lumber to Day Lumber and Timber Company and all the lumber it would mill during the length of the contract for $12 per thousand feet.
