Historicial Development: Quoting from Doug Dvorman, Manager of Taxes & Leases of Kirby Forest Industries, Inc., January 14, 1994, the eventual ownership of Kirby Lumber evolved as follow: “In the 1930's, Santa Fe Railroad Company bought a controlling interest in Kirby Lumber Company. In December, 1986, Santa Fe sold Kirby's stock to Louisiana-Pacific Corporation. Kirby is now a wholly owned subsidiary of LP.” The company had a pine lumber sawmill operating in Houston in 1957.
