History: | This railroad ran in the northeast part of Texas (Harrison, Marion, Wood, Upshur, Morris, Tyler). According to the Texas Big Sandy Project, the original roadbed was a Ragley Lumber Company tram road that ran in 1897 into the virgin pine stands north of Winnsboro. The Marshall Messenger reported on June 15, 1902, the first Texas Southern train from Marshall to Winnsboro by way of Gilmer. |
