History:	Charted in 1873, it bought CMRR's 30-mile stretch from Navasota to Montgomery. In 1885, it built west to Somerville and east to Conroe. In 1897, it bought a 21-mile stretch from Conroe to Cleveland from TL&E. By 1894, eastward from Liberty and Hardin counties to Koutze, Silsbee, and Beaumont, the GC&SFRR had opened up vast belts of shortleaf pine forests to the timber industry. Montgomery County sawmill towns on the line were Dobbin (Bobbin), Tharp, Montgomery, Conroe, Keenan, Arnold's Switch, Beach, Youens, Waukegan, Clinesburg (Fostoria), and Timber.
