History: According to Reed, the Alexandria, Tyler & Northwestern Railway Company, was chartered on August 17, 1889, was headquartered at Tyler, was built, and had lapsed by 1941. Because its headquarters was in Tyler and its title is similiar to the Tyler Car & Lumber's tapline in Angelina County, the Sabine Pass, Alexandria & Northwestern Railway Company, the suspicion is reasonable that this tapline was built by Tyler Car & Lumber. The Tyler Car and Lumber Company was reported to be cutting 60,000 feet daily in 1893 at its Tyler lumber plant. This logging tram probably stopped functioning about the time Tyler Car & Lumber disappers from historical records before the turn of the century.
