Historicial Development: William & Talluah Cruse, who owned a sawmill in Liberty County, sold 600 acres of timber to the Cades in late 1905 and the gave them permission to build a mill there. In March 1906, the Liberty Vindicator reported that the mill at Sackle (Sacul) had been moved to Rye and would be ready by April. Cruse granted several timber deeds to the Cades. The mill location is listed in Southern Industrial and Lumber Review as Cadebros. It may have been later sold by the Cades to Cummings Export Company (see C. R. Cummings at “Saline Bayou”). Mr. Kevin Ladd of Liberty County reported the records contained in the Liberty County records and newspapers. The Cade Brothers also operated mills in Henderson and Nacogdoches counties in 1907.
