Historicial Development: A record of E. M. B. Sawyer's sawmill was found in the Galveston Daily News by W.T. Block of Nederland. Sawyer had a sawmill on the Trinity River in March 1876, and was planning, according to the newspaper, to build a planing mill in connection with his sawmill. The Star State announced that the Texas & New Orleans was planning on building a switch in 1878 to Sawyer's mill. This may be the same Sawyer who had a mill in 1880 located on the tracks of the Houston East & West Texas south of the Trinity River.
