The Gulf Coast Lumberman obituary on W. T. Whiteman, in April, 1951, reported that W. T. Whiteman, after ending his experience in the Blount-Decker mill at Alto in 1922, later operated a “modest circular sawmill” at Alto from 1933 until he retired in 1945. This sawmill was located near the former mill site of Blount-Decker Lumber Company at Alto.
