Historicial Development: Haden Brown and Berryman “Pete” Pavletich, according to the Cherokee County History, built a mill near Jacksonville after 1951. It produced “natural wood flooring in building construction” until “synthetic floor coverings” replaced natural wood in the 1960s. Samson's 1957 edition of Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas reported that it milled pine lumber. The Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1956-1958 noted the plant began in 1951 under Pete Pavletich and Hayden Brown; they supervised more than twenty-five workers.
