Historicial Development: M. L. Huddleston was reported by the Southern Industrial and Lumber Review to be cutting 8,000 feet of lumber daily at Jacksonville in 1906. Another partner, in 1907, was G. Singletary. Whether the partnership was in the Singletary Switch mill of Singletary or the Jacksonville mill of Huddleston is unclear. That year M. E. Rucker, in March, mortgaged to Farmers & Merchants State Bank for $9500 the following property and equipment: 1- a sawmill fixtures known as the Singletary and Huddleston mill; 2- a saw and planing mill at a location known as Stovall's mill; 3- and another planing mill, four log wagons, one mule team, six oxen, and 1,000,000 feet of lumber.
