Historicial Development: John W., Andrew J., and Butler Searcy from Alabama operated a sawmill at Searcyville in the years after 1910. The mill produced railroad ties and bridge timbers for the International & Great Northern. The mill was located on Seven Bridges Road between the Tubb ferry site on Mud Creek and Blackjack. Some of the logging was done at Cane Island. Eighteen-hundred pound steers were used to pull log wagons to the mill. Searcy children were taken by bus to the Blackjack School.
