Historicial Development: George C. Worthington left the Worthington-Green Lumber Company (Duncan-Green) at Ponta in 1908 to buy his own sawmill at Turney. He mortgaged on December 30, 1908, to First National Bank at Jacksonville for $3,000 on a sawmill, twenty-three oxen, log wagons, and between 500,000 and 1,000,000 feet of lumber.
