Historicial Development: J. Youens and company operated a lumber plant in Navasota for more than twenty years. It was listed in the 1907 Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association as having a planing mill and sawmill at Navasota. By 1928, the plant had only a planing mill. By 1934, the company was handling only retail trade in lumber.
