Historicial Development: E. L. Thomason and Mrs. J. W. Thomason, a widow, sold their sawmill for $650 to F. L. Howard in September, 1945. It was located four miles east of Conroe. This may have evolved into the Howard Lumber Company listed at Conroe in Nelson T. Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas, published in 1957.
