Historicial Development: The Nacogdoches Weekly Sentinel reported in March 1903 on the “cheerful sound of Mr. Oscar Buckner's new saw mill whistle” which could be “heard most every day, one and one half miles from Melrose.” Buckner would buy in 1908 the Mangham, Mangham, & Seale sawmill at Melrose in 1908.
