Historicial Development: The Gulf Coast Lumberman reported that Temple Industries, Inc., announced in July, 1969, it intended to build a plywood plant at Carthage with a start-up date in 1971. The Texas Forest News added that the plant would be on 100 acres at the southeast side of town. The project annual production would be 35,000,000 square feet of plywood sheathing and 25,000 tons of wood chips. The plant would employ 200 to 250 workers.
