Historicial Development: On November 27, 1953, a fire ravaged the newly rebuilt Edens-Birch mill at Corrigan, destroying a pine planing mill, four storage sheds, the hardwood flooring plant, and two and a half million feet of lumber. Rough lumber was shipped to the Cleveland plant. The following April management announced the planer would be rebuilt. During this period, Edens-Birch was operating a temporary mill at Moscow, in Polk County, to keep up with orders while the new planing mill at Corrigan was being built.
