Historicial Development: According to Ruth Peebles, Jim Harrison operated a lumber mill, cotton gin, grist mill, shingle mill, and served as postmaster of Midway. Midway dates back to 1840; it was named after James Morgan. In the 1880s, it was known as Wood's Creek. She also notes that Pinckney, Midway, and Wood's Creek communities are known today as Midway.
