Historicial Development: F. H. Greer mortgaged certain sawmill machinery, excepting the saw and saw carriage and carry log, to E. A. Blount. In February 1893, Greer apparently experienced further economic difficulties, for that month he mortgaged for $600 his sawmill and circular saw; his cotton gin; and all cotton ginned during the 1893 and 1894 growing season. In January 1894, Greer mortgages the gin's steam feeder and boiler condenser plus the entire sawmill and attachments for $1,000.
