Historicial Development: Fussell Bros. bought on mortgage for $3,000 a gin and sawmill plant in 1920, including a gas engine, carriage, edger, and cut-off saw. They sold “one Saw Mill rig” to Lane and Laughslon in 1923. J. Johnson recalled for V. L. Beasley that Holly and Jesse Fussell operated a sawmill plant located about five miles north of San Augustine during the 1920s. The brothers had bought it from a Mr. Harrison who left the area.
