Historicial Development: The Sydney Gee Lumber Company had been operating from 1946, according to the Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1960. Although the former directory lists the company at Center, it was in fact at Choice on the Neuville Road. The operation was small, with less than twenty-five workers manufacturing pine lumber. It appeared in the 1957 edition of Nelson T. Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas. This plant was completely destroyed by fire in 1966. The Gee Lumber Company, Inc., was listed at Choice in the 1987 Forest Products Industries in Texas. The owner was Johnny Gee. J. McSwain told interviewer V. L. Beasley that he believed the company operated until 1993.
