Historicial Development: The East Texas Lumber Company appeared in the January 1905 Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association. The only mill at Poerville in 1907 was the Iowa Lumber Company operation. The East Texas Lumber Company of Longview was a creditor of Langford Lumber Company, an Angelina County Lumber Company concern, in 1935. It first appeared in a credit listing in 1905 with a mill at Poerville in Bowie County. The Poerville mill was not listed in the 1907 edition under East Texas Lumber but rather under the Iowa Lumber Company. The Beckville mill appeared only in the 1907 edition. The Gladewater plant of A. M. Phillips was bought by East Texas Lumber Company in 1907, plus a lease was negotiated for standing timber eleven inches and up. The plant was four miles northwest of Gladewater and twelve miles south of Gilmer.
