Historicial Development: Melvin Aldridge, a life-long, 87-year old area resident, told V. L. Beasley that Charles and Jess Blackburn operated a small sawmill at Chancy Switch for several years before 1920. Charley Blackburn sawmilled in the county until 1954, according to his wife, Peggy Blackburn Gipson.
