Historicial Development: The first sawmill at Ford's Bluff was established by the Ford brothers of Baltimore, Maryland, about 1852. The site was originally a ferry site called Richardson's Bluff, but it was renamed by the Ford brothers. The Ford Brothers mill did not appear in the Jasper County 1860 special census records.
