Historicial Development: Vanice Ray Goolsby was a noted sawmiller in Leon County until his death in 1968. Goolsby worked with a number of other partners, including his brother N. G. Goolsby, Johnny Bill King, and T. C. King, before running his own operation. It was located south of Centerville, just east of Highway 75. He normally employed eight to ten workers. The sawmill was listed in Directory of Texas Manufacturers, 1956-1958 and Nelson Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas in 1957.
